Free VPN Mobile 5.0 UI Refresh
Phones are where most people use a VPN, yet many mobile clients still look like shrunken desktop apps. Free VPN Mobile 5.0 is a full redesign with one goal: make connecting faster to find and settings easier to reach.
The previous mobile UI was feature-complete but deep. Some users complained that switching nodes took three or four taps. The product team found that "connect," "switch node" and "check status" accounted for over 80% of interactions, yet their entry points were scattered across pages.
Rebuilt home: one tap to connect
Version 5.0 rebuilds the home screen around a big button plus a status card. A prominent connect button sits center-screen; status, current node and live speed live in one card. Switching nodes no longer needs a jump — tap the node name for a dropdown. In a 200-user beta, average time from launch to first connect fell from 82 seconds to 47.
Settings: from hidden to findable
High-frequency settings like protocol switching, kill switch and auto-connect were promoted to the second level, each with a plain-language label — "Kill switch: cuts network on drop to prevent privacy leaks" instead of a bare English switch name. Settings satisfaction rose 23% in beta, and "can't understand settings" complaints nearly halved.
Performance and detail polish
Beyond the redesign, 5.0 trims cold start by removing redundant first-screen modules, cutting Android cold start about 31%. iOS adds Dynamic Island support so connection status shows without switching back.
"Mobile isn't about more features — it's whether users can do what they want within three taps." — Free VPN mobile product lead
UI work isn't cosmetic; it decides whether users can get going smoothly. Free VPN Mobile 5.0 puts "connect faster, settings findable, status clearer" into every pixel. Update in the app store or do a free VPN download to try it.

The new UI is clean; one-click connect is smooth and node switching is fast.
Finally plain-language settings — those English toggles were unreadable.
Cold start is faster; Dynamic Island status is a nice touch.
Even my mom can use it now — simple paths and a clean look.
